First, in June I got to know my brothers better when they stayed with us for a little while. I have two really great younger brothers. My kids have loved having their uncles around to play with.
In July we went to Wisconsin to spend a few weeks with my folks. My sister was there with her sweet kids too.
In August we went to Washington for a week for Jeremy's family's reunion. We also went to Arizona (see previous post) and got to see more of my side of the family.
pheww.... it's a good thing I like my family.
This is a picture of Jeremy's dad and siblings. He's the cute, little blond in overalls in the front. We call him Bud. His younger sister on the left is Mona and his little bit older sister on the right is Theon.
Here's what they looked like last month. They are a trio of fun loving sweet hearts, I tell ya.
Well, it really all started with these two people:
Raleigh and Ellen. They were married June 27, 1917. They are the parents of Theon, Bud, Mona, Raleigh, Calvin and Mary (in the first picture above)
From these two people falling in love, all these people were brought together:
What a family reunion!
We went camping for three days and got to know each other a little bit better.
True to western Washington form, it rained.
Luckily, it didn't rain this hard the whole time.
We slept in A-frames that kept us pretty dry.
Uncle Richard was totally prepared with tarps that also kept us pretty dry.
We weren't complaining too much, because all that rain makes Washington so beautiful.
Elise and her cousin, who the week previous, got a piece of glass stuck in her foot, liked to explore. Both have excellent imaginations, which helped them find all sorts of creatures.
Sam got to chop wood and use his pocket knife.
So did his cousin. And nobody got hurt!
This family likes to play games.
And laugh.

Elise has a lot of cousins about her age. They had SO much fun writing, directing and starring an a play.
Sand + Water = Kid Magnet
Kids + Fire = Freaked-out mom
But it was fun. They loved to play "Noah's Ark" around the fire. AND NOBODY GOT HURT! Miracle of miracles.
Holy cow! We had a good time. We sure feel lucky to have such a great family.

My extended family is planning on a HUGE family reunion in the next 2-3 years. There will be quite a few of us (40+), so we haven't been able to find a good place to go yet. It looked like you had quite a crowd at your pictures. Where did you camp in Washington?

What a wonderful (and BUSY) summer your family had!! It always amazes me to get together with my grandparents and hear about how life has changed since they were young. And then to see the family they started gathered around them in droves.
